Major Update On Jamie Foxx’s Mike Tyson Biopic
After years of planning, Jamie Foxx may end up playing the role of a lifetime.
Speaking to filmmaker Mark Birnbaum on Instagram Live, Foxx talked about a Mike Tyson biopic that has been on hold for a while.
“It’s a definitive yes,” Foxx stated, via Entertainment Weekly. “Look, doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get them done. But we officially got the real ball rolling.”
“We want to show, everybody evolves. I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey.”
According to Boxing Scene, Foxx will show Tyson throughout his life. It will be a film that shows “Iron” Mike as an angry fighter with personality issues. It is unknown if he will be discussing Tyson biting the ear of Holyfield or the convictions and imprisonment that kept him away from the ring in the early 1990s. The film will show Tyson at the height of his career and the result of him being a celebrity.
“So I started hanging out with Mike Tyson so I got to see Mike in two different ways, two different lives,” Foxx would end up stating. “I saw him at the height of his career and then when things got bad, things got bumpy, I also saw him as well, so what I’m excited about the movie is to show those moments of the different Mike.”
Preparing for the role in the film, which may be called “Finding Mike”, Foxx has been adding muscle. He has been doing exercises every other day, including push-ups and pull-ups.
This comes after Tyson announced his intentions to come back to the ring for the first time since 2005. The former heavyweight champion will be competing in exhibition bouts for charity, with an opponent to be determined.
