Manager: Errol Spence Jr. Is Trying To Avoid Terence Crawford
Terence Crawford’s manager believes Errol Spence Jr. is sidestepping for as long as he can.
Crawford and Spence have been at odds when it comes to making a bout happen. Crawford is the WBO Welterweight Champion, while Spence holds the WBC and IBF gold. Spence continues to say that he’s the A-side and won’t settle for anything less than a majority of the fight purse if the two are to share the ring.
Speaking to BoxingScene.com, Crawford’s manager Brian McIntyre expressed his belief that Spence is doing all he can to avoid a clash with “Bud.”
“Yep, he [Spence] [trying] to find a way out the fight with Terence. And by calling out Canelo he looking to cash out with the help of Mexican fans by saying we can fight at the Cowboy Stadium.”
McIntyre also went on to talk about attempting to patch things up with Bob Arum. The Top Rank head honcho has accused Crawford’s team of leaking out contract details. McIntyre has denied this.
“The relationship with Bob is still up in the air. I been trying to have a sit down with him. But still haven’t got a date.”
Spence attended Canelo Alvarez vs. Callum Smith and was interviewed by Chris Mannix. When asked about a potential fight with Crawford, Spence suggested a 70/30 split. Crawford blasted Spence and even poked at his 2019 Ferarri crash.
Crawford competes for Top Rank Boxing, while Spence is promoted by PBC. While Top Rank and PBC have worked together in the past, it’s clear that both Crawford and Spence are significantly far apart when it comes to talks of money.
