Manchester Just Might Get John Fury As Mayor
John Fury, the father of the current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has recently grabbed the headlines just like his son, but for different reasons.
While Tyson (31-0, 22 KOs) is preparing to take on Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs), his father is eyeing the mayor position in Manchester.
Considering the announcement was done on April 1, many thought that it was an April Fool joke. However, the seriousness in the 57-year-old’s voice has deceived a huge number of his followers on Instagram.
“I am contesting in the next elections to become the mayor of Manchester, because I don’t have any faith in the current regime and I believe that I can do a better job than them,” John Fury claimed.
“I know that this announcement would attract a lot of attention but you don’t need to worry, there are a lot of developments incoming related to it. You will see me very shortly in the 2024 elections when I will prove every word that I have spoken.”
Andy Burnham is the sitting mayor of Manchester.
