Manny Pacquiao Outshines DK Yoo In Exhibition Bout

Pacquiao retired from professional boxing in September 2021.

The former eight-division champ, Manny Pacquiao returned to the ring in a showcase match against Korean mix martial artist DK Yoo this past Sunday.

Pacquiao, popularly known as the Pacman, officially bid goodbye to professional boxing last year after losing a unanimous decision to Yordenis Ugas in August last year.

But then the Filipino legend returned to compete in the exhibition bout.

Pacquiao proved too much for Yoo who gassed out just after the two rounds. The Pacman was nimble as ever on his feet, connecting with his combos from every angle which he is known from.

Yoo’s reach and significantly heavier posture didn’t help him either as he was unable to land any compelling shot throughout the fight.

Pacquiao, who turns 44 next week, was the winner by unanimous decision and hinted that more appearances in the ring could lie ahead.

The 43-year-old has also served as a senator since 2016 in his native homeland of the Philippines. The Pacman contested for a presidential bid, but fell short.

Pacquiao has indicated that he is spending a major portion of his time working out to get in better shape and may be go for another run at the boxing’s elite one more time.

He had suggested prior to the match that he may not be done with fighting, calling Sunday’s bout a “very good stepping stone to come back.”

“This is a great opportunity to come back in the ring,” he added. “I thought it was easy to retire… I really missed boxing.”
