Manny Pacquiao & Shawn Porter Possible Opponents For Terence Crawford
Terence Crawford may finally get the signature fight he’s been looking for.
Crawford is the WBO Welterweight Champion. He has a perfect pro boxing record of 37-0. While “Bud” has beaten the likes of Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Jose Benavidez Jr., some feel he’s lacking a signature victory. That opportunity could present itself in 2021.
Speaking to the folks at Fight Hype, Top Rank Boxing’s Bob Arum revealed that Shawn Porter’s father has reached out to him about potentially fighting Crawford. Arum is also aware of Manny Pacquiao’s interest (h/t Bad Left Hook).
“Shawn’s father, Kenny, came to see us. He’s a lovely man and highly intelligent, and we’ve had preliminary discussions and let’s see if it can happen. And there’s also Manny Pacquiao who has said that he wants to fight Terence Crawford. Let’s see if that can happen. But as far as Crawford is concerned, he’s in a good position.”
When asked which fight would be more likely, Arum made it clear that he feels the Pacquiao fight is the frontrunner.
“Well, obviously Manny because there’s more money for Crawford in the Manny fight.”
Pacquiao recently revealed that he would take a fight with Crawford for $40 million. He suggested that Crawford gets $10 million.
Porter hasn’t been shy in expressing his interest in a showdown with Crawford. With that said, Porter isn’t willing to fight Crawford for just $1 million as he feels it would be a lowball offer.
