According to Eddie Hearn, the only factor that could prevent a boxing match between his client Conor Benn and Manny Pacquiao is whether or not they propose a contract to the renowned Filipino boxer.
This is despite the fact that the welterweight, Benn, failed two drug tests last year for clomiphene. And yet, for Hearn, this does not appear to be a hindrance.
In his comments to FIGHT HUB TV, Hearn said: “It’s ready to go. It’s ready to go. We’ve got a couple of site offers. It’s whether we select that fight out of the three. Manny Pacquiao wants the fight badly.”
Benn’s inability to fight in the UK is due to his ongoing disputes with the British Boxing Board of Control, who he has clashed with repeatedly over his positive drug tests.
Despite being under investigation by both the Board and UK Anti-Doping, Benn has refused to cooperate and has even made threats of legal action. As a result, he gave up his license with the Board.
This would rule out mega fights with Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr, as they would be sell-out UK fights. And that is something that Benn will have to navigate if he wants those matchups.
“Obviously, with the legal stuff going on right now with the British boxing Board of Control, I don’t think his next fight will be in the UK. But it’s definitely between those three who Conor Will fight next,” Hearn added.
