Manny Pacquiao’s Exhibition Bout With Buakaw Banchamek Delayed

Manny Pacquiao’s exhibition against Buakaw Banchamek has been postponed.

Pacman was set to face the Muay Thai fighter in an exhibition on April 20, 2024. It would have been Pacquiao’s second exhibition since retiring after his defeat to Yordenis Ugas in 2021. In his first exhibition, Manny beat DK Yoo via a unanimous decision. Speculation over Pacquiao making a professional comeback increased as talks over a Conor Benn fight occurred.

A fight with Banchamek was seen as a tune-up for another professional bout. However, Buakaw is set to face Minoru Kimura on March 23 at a Rizin Landmark 9, increasing suggestions that his fight with Pacquiao was off. Kimura had tested positive last June after beating Daryl Lokoku via a first-round KO at RIZN 43.

The result was overturned to a no-contest, raising question marks over why Banchamek would face Kimura with the Pacquiao fight around the corner. Reports indicated that the promoter for the event, “Match of Legends,” withdrew. But Buakaw has now confirmed the fight has been delayed.

“My understanding is that the fight has gotten postponed. It hasn’t gotten canceled. As far as contractual-wise, the fight is still happening. We just don’t know when. So, my understanding is that the fight is not off; it has been postponed,” Buakaw said
