Manuwa-Anderson Main Events UFC London

UFC Fight Night 107 in London is less than two months away, and fans have been waiting patiently to find out what fight will headline the card. Now, they have their answer: the previously announced light heavyweight bout between Jimi Manuwa and Corey Anderson will serve as the main event.

MMAJunkie first reported that Manuwa vs. Anderson will headline the March 18 card at the O2 in London. The event will stream on UFC Fight Pass.

Manuwa (16-2) is coming off of his best performance to date, as he knocked out Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 204 in October. That fight took place in Manchester, and Manuwa was energized by the hometown crowd. He will look to continue to climb the light-heavyweight ranks after suffering a knockout loss to #1 contender Anthony Johnson in September of 2015. He is currently ranked #5 in the 205-lb. division.

Anderson (9-2) is similarly riding the momentum of a strong win, as he dominated Sean O’Connell at UFC Fight Night: Albany in December. Earlier in 2016 he lost a controversial split decision to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 198 in Brazil.

Last year, a similarly scheduled Fight Pass card in London was headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Anderson Silva, so many fans have called Manuwa vs. Anderson a step down in terms of star power. The delay of the main event announcement would imply that the UFC had been looking for a bigger fight to book and were unable to find one.
