Manuwa-Teixeira Targeted for UFC 208
A matchup between two of the light-heavyweight division’s hardest punchers is being targeted for UFC 208. Jimi Manuwa and Glover Teixeira have reportedly agreed to fight on the Jan. 21 card in Anaheim, California. ESPN’s Bret Okamoto reported the news.
Teixeira (25-5) last fought at UFC 202, where he suffered the most devastating loss of his career: a brutal 13-second knockout at the hands of Anthony Johnson. Prior to that loss, Teixeira was on a three-fight winning streak including back-to-back knockouts over Patrick Cummins and Rashad Evans.
Manuwa (16-2), by contrast, is coming off the biggest victory of his career. At UFC 204 in Manchester, Manuwa knocked out Ovince Saint Preux with a picture-perfect left hook. It was a nice rebound for Manuwa, who had last been yet another name on a long list of Anthony Johnson knockout victims.
UFC 208 takes place on Jan. 21 in Anaheim, California and does not currently have a main event scheduled.
