March, April PBC Events Postponed Due To The Coronavirus

Al Haymon is not taking any risks as a result fo the coronavirus pandemic. It was announced that all Premier Boxing Champions events taking place between March and April have been postponed.

“The health and safety of the boxers, fans and those working the events are of utmost importance to us,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “We are all disappointed and as we get more information we will address future events.”

All ticket orders can be refunded through the original point of purchase. Ticketmaster orders will be refunded automatically.

One fight (of several) was already postponed in James Kirkland v. Marcos Hernandez, scheduled for March 14 from inside the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. This comes after national leaders have banned events from taking place within the area. The CDC has also recommended all gatherings be postponed until about May.

Here are the following bouts that have been canceled as a result, whether by itself or with Showtime:

  • March 28: Luis Nery v. Aaron Alameda – WBC Super-Bantamweight Title Eliminator – Park Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas.
  • April 11:  Jamal James v. Thomas Dulorme – Interim WBA Welterweight Title – The Armory in Minneapolis.
  • April 18: David Benavidez (c) v. Roamer Alexis Angulo – WBC Super Middleweight World Title – Arizona Federal Theatre

According to the latest from CNN, there have been over 164,837 cases of the coronavirus, with over 6,470 deaths confirmed.
