Marco Antonio Barrera’s Son Set For His Pro Debut On September 23rd

Marco Antonio Barrera’s son will make his boxing debut on September 23rd, 2023, against Sirdarious Smith from Long Beach, California.

Barrera Jr. will have big shoes to fill as he seeks to follow in the footsteps of his father. Barrera Sr. had an impressive career that lasted over two decades as his boxing record stood at 67-7 (44 KO wins, 2 KO losses). And as part of that process, Barrera won titles in three different weight classes across the super bantamweight, featherweight and super-featherweight divisions. His most iconic fights were against Manny Pacquiao. Despite losing on both occasions, the fights went down as all-time classics.

With that being said, the pressure is on Barrera Jr. However, he will face an opponent who has suffered three losses in his three fights. And all of them have come by way of a first-round knockout. Provided that Barrera Jr. gets off to a solid start, who knows how far the boxer can go. Although there will always be comparisons with Barrera Sr, the fighter has to create his own path.
