Marcus/Jacoby Rematch Finally Set for Glory 34
Dustin Jacoby’s opponent for Glory 34 Denver has finally been announced and our prayers have been answered. Simon "The One" Marcus will step in against Dustin Jacoby in a much anticipated rematch. Marcus, coming off of a controversial loss to Wilnis just over a month ago at Glory 33 in New Jersey looks to climb back up the contender ranks in the co-main event in Denver this Friday, October 21st. If their first bout together is any indicator what could happen in Denver this is one fight not to be missed. Marcus dispatched Jacoby in their first meeting by dropping him multiple times and neutralizing Dustin’s offense with good technical defense and counter strikes. Marcus landed a vicious liver kick late in the fight but Jacoby was able to weather the storm, finish the fight and lose a decision. This speaks the size and toughness Jacoby possesses at middleweight.
Glory 34 presents a new wrinkle in this rematch between Dustin and Simon, altitude. Jacoby makes his home in Colorado and is used to fighting and training at altitude. We have seen in the past when athletes from all sports come to compete at altitude, the thin air usually has an effect on their performance. It will be interesting to see if the elevation above sea level has an effect on the cardio of Marcus. A win for either fighter should fast track them to a title fight against middleweight champ Jason Wilnis. Fireworks are sure to fly this Friday in Denver. The event airs live on ESPN3 at midnight ET / 9 p.m. PT with a replay broadcast on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT this Sunday, Oct. 23. The ESPN card is preceded by a live broadcast of the GLORY 34 SUPERFIGHT SERIES preliminary card on UFC FIGHT PASS from 10pm ET.
