Main Undercard 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT (SHOWTIME) Live Results:

Co-Main Event: Brandon Figueroa vs. Carlos Castro – Featherweight

In the first two rounds of this 126-pound co-feature WBC eliminator bout, Castro executed a very well calculated game plan. On several occasions, Castro would draw Figueroa in, unload a right hand, then tie the former champion up and land shots from within the clinch. This calculation paid dividends until the third round, when his opponent became wise to the plan.

Figueroa began to pressure forward, walking down Castro and unloading bursts of combinations. During one of these combinations along the ropes, Figueroa landed consecutive clean punches to the head of Castro, and dropped him to the floor of the ring. Castro would rise to his feet and play the best defense he could for the remainder of the round, while Figueroa delivered an absolute barrage of punches.

Castro fought through the fourth and fifth, but in the sixth the fight was once again on the edge of the ring. Figueroa absorbed a few punches, but just when Castro began to get his rhythm going, Figueroa spun him into the ropes and began to go to work. He landed several unanswered punches, and the referee had no choice but to step in and stop the action at 2:11 of the sixth round.

Through this TKO victory, Figueroa’s record moved to 23-1-1, with 18 knockouts. Castro accepted his second loss in 29 fights, and his first ever loss by stoppage. In his next match, Figueroa will get his shot at the featherweight WBC world title.

Official Result: Brandon Figueroa def. Carlos Castro via TKO – Round 6, 2:11

Frank Martin vs. Jackson Marinez – Super Lightweight

In this 140-pound matchup, both competitors took an extremely strategic approach based on jabs and counter punching. By the sixth round, they began to increase their level of output. At the start of the seventh, Martin hurt Marinez with a flurry of shots.

While Marinez was able to overcome the damage and continue, he appeared to be slower as the fight progressed into the late rounds, and was continuously beat to the punch by his opponent. Conversely, Martin’s speed and evasive footwork remained on point as he fired off impressive combinations.

At the end of the ninth round, Martin backed Marinez into the corner and unloaded a series of hard shots, resulting in his opponent dropping to the canvas. Marinez would escape the round, but early into the tenth Martin came out swinging and sealed the deal with a set of punches to the body, followed by hard strikes up top that landed flush. These punches sent Marinez to the canvas for a second time and finished the fight 30 seconds into the tenth and final round.

Through the exciting affair, Frank Martin added a 16th win to his undefeated record, and recorded his 12th win by stoppage.

Official Result: Frank Martin def. Jackson Marinez via TKO – Round 10, 0:30
