Marlon Moraes Vs. Cory Sandhagen Reportedly Set For October UFC Card
Two bantamweight stars are looking to get themselves back to the top of the division.
Combate is the first to report that Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen will fight against one another on October 10. It is unknown how this will affect the UFC’s bantamweight rankings.
Moraes (23-6-1) is coming off of a win against Jose Aldo at UFC 245 in December. It was a rebound following a loss to Henry Cejudo for the vacant UFC Bantamweight Title, ending a four-fight win streak. The fight was Aldo’s bantamweight debut, and although he lost, he received a title shot against Petr Yan at UFC 251.
Ranked first in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings, Moraes ending up testing positive for COVID-19, sidelining him. There were rumors of him facing Cody Garbrandt at some point. The former UFC Bantamweight Champion in Garbrandt is looking to move down to flyweight to face champion Deiveson Figueiredo.
Sandhagen (12-2) is coming off of a loss to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 250 in June. A round one submission, the loss ended a seven-fight win streak dating back to 2017. Sandhagen is ranked fourth in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings.
The October 10 card does not have a location as of this moment. Las Vegas or “Fight Island” are both in play. No headliner has been announced yet.
