Massey Out, Okolie to Compete July 20
Lawrence Okolie’s defense of the British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles will still happen in July, but not next week. An arm injury has forced intended challenger Jack Massey out of their planned main event bout at the Manchester Arena in England.
Okolie will now defend his championships against an opponent, still undetermined at this time, on July 20 at the O2 Arena as part of the undercard for Dillian Whyte vs. Oscar Rivas.
Okolie has won all 12 of his bouts since making his pro debut in March 2017. He has held the British title since defeating Matty Askin in September and earned his second Commonwealth title reign when he bested Wadi Camacho in March.
As a result of the cancelation, the entire July 6 card has been postponed. A Matchroom Boxing card for the Manchester Arena, with Anthony Fowler vs. Brian Rose as a new main event, will be scheduled for later this summer.
