Masvidal Has Title Shot If He Beats Askren
Following a major win in London, not only in the cage, but backstage after the fights were concluded, UFC 239 may be the last step Jorge Masvidal will have to take to get his shot at the UFC welterweight title.
The fighter who handed Leon Edwards a “three piece and a soda” after defeating Darren Till at the UFC’s return to London, will now have to contend with Ben Askren in July. With a win against Askren, Masvidal told Ariel Helwani that he’ll get his long awaited title shot.

Masvidal’s comments ended up getting to Askren, who claimed that a promise of a title shot was the only way the UFC could get Masvidal to fight him.
“Well they had to dangle some type of Carrot to get him to agree to take a beating,” Askren posted on Twitter.
Askren’s second time inside the Octagon will come after a controversial submission win over Robbie Lawler at UFC 235, where Lawler is adamant that he did not tap out while in a bulldog choke.
