Masvidal Is In Talks For A UFC Return
Jorge Masvidal says he is in talks to return to the UFC either this year or early 2025.
Masvidal retired from the UFC after losing to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. That was his fourth defeat in a row, bringing an end to a respected career. Masvidal became the first BMF Champion, beating Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in 2019. He also has the fastest UFC knockout in history when he stopped Ben Askren in five seconds.
Since his retirement, Masvidal has entered into other ventures. He set up his Gamebread Fighting Championship, having promoted boxing and bare-knuckle. He also rematched Nate Diaz in a boxing bout this year after coming out of retirement, only to lose a majority decision. Masvidal has said his return is on the cards as he targeted a Michael Chandler fight.
“I’ve been talking to my boy Hunter [Campbell]. Finding out, he’s like, ‘Let me check this date, see if this dude wants the heat, let me see if that guy wants to get beat up.’ First, we’ll lock in the date. Lock in that date and then we’ll find the body…It could be this year. It could be Vegas, Dec. 7. I’ll f**king drop Michael Chandler dead on his a**. It could be next year, Super Bowl, knock somebody else on their ass. I don’t know. I don’t quite know yet,” Masvidal said

Jorge calling out a 5’ 8” 155er has me thinking he’s desperate for money. Just like Colby calling out Dustin, these washed up welterweights wana call out lightweights with a name so they can stay “relevant.”
