Masvidal Talks Boxing Return, Tells Nate Diaz ‘You’re Dead’

Jorge Masvidal is planning to box after coming out of retirement this year.

Gamebread retired from the UFC following his defeat against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 last year. That was Masvidal’s fourth consecutive loss. But reports of his return surfaced with a Nate Diaz boxing match. Diaz and Masvidal squared off once at UFC 244 as Gamebread won the inaugural BMF title. The ringside doctor for the New York State Athletic Commission stopped the fight because of a cut over Diaz’s right eye.

Jake Paul ‘leaked’ Masvidal’s next opponent, saying he was boxing Diaz, before deleting that tweet. Ariel Helwani also confirmed talks were ongoing for a fight.

Nothing was announced, leaving fans none the wiser. But Masvidal has confirmed he will box, as he sent Diaz a strong message.

“I’m definitely trying to do some boxing matches. I love MMA, it’s my favorite sport in the whole world. I did it for 20 years, it’ll always be number one to me. But, a chance to do some boxing matches, things like that, I wouldn’t mind breaking facing someone’s face.

“These guys are doing half-assed jobs on these shows. That’s why they aren’t able to go out there and be mean every second of every minute of every round. They’re f**king taking time off, they’re f**king pointing at each other, they’re taking selfies in the f**king ring. When I go in there, it’s only to scrap man,” Masvidal said

If a boxing fight does not go ahead, Masvidal has targeted a fight with Justin Gaethje. Gaethje is the current BMF Champion after knocking out Dustin Poirier at UFC 292 in the second round. The champion will defend his belt against Max Holloway at UFC 300. Provided Gaethje wins, Masvidal was open to facing him.

“Justin’s very good, the dude he beat to get that belt is a stud, a f**king killer in Dustin Poirier. But, I just feel like if you put BMF against BMF, you put me against [Justin] Gaethje in there, I will break his eye orbital and I will f**king chop him up, man. So hopefully that can happen at some point,” Masvidal stated
