Matchroom Boxing Signs Another Champion In Ewa Brodnicka

As Matchroom Boxing prepares for its first all-British women’s main event this Friday, August 7, Eddie Hearn is planning ahead for a potential future clash.

It was announced that the promotion has signed WBO Super-Featherweight Champion Ewa Brodnicka to a multi-fight deal. The Polish star will be keeping an eye on the upcoming “Matchroom Fight Camp” main event, which features Terri Harper defending the WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight Titles against Natasha Jonas.

“I’m delighted to welcome Ewa to the team” said Hearn. “This sets up a huge unification fight between the winner of Terri Harper vs. Natasha Jonas at Fight Camp at a time where women’s boxing continues to go from strength to strength.”

Making her professional debut in 2013, Brodnicka (19-0) has fought all of her bouts in Poland. She won the European Lightweight Title in her tenth fight against Elfi Philips and won the WBO Super-Featherweight Title (then interim) in 2017 against Irma Adler. Brodnicka has defended the title six times, with one of her defenses against Viviane Obenauf, someone who Harper has beaten before.

Brodnicka last fought in March, beating Djemilla Gontaruk via unanimous decision. While she has only two wins via knockout, her overall skills make her a dangerous fighter.

“I’m delighted to team up with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing,” said Brodnicka. “Women’s boxing is on fire right now and I want to be in all the big fights starting with the unification matchup between the winner of Harper and Jonas. I’m excited for the future and can’t wait for my return to the ring.”

Brodnicka joins Matchroom at a time when they have signed the likes of Harper, Katie Taylor, and Cecilia Braekhus.
