Matchup Alert: Welterweight’s Jamal James and Thomas Dulorme Set For July PBC On FOX Card
Given a few more months to prepare, Jamal James and Thomas Dulorme will look to finally do battle this summer. According to The Athletic’s Mike Coppinger, the clash between two welterweights has been rescheduled to July 25. A main event reportedly for the Interim WBA Welterweight Title, the fight will be a PBC on FOX-produced affair.
James (26-1) is on a six-fight win streak dating back to 2017. After losing to Yordenis Ugas back in 2016, “Shango” mas managed to win four of his last six fights inside the Minneapolis Armory. His last bout was a unanimous decision win over Antonio DeMarco in July.
The 30-year-old Dulorme (25-3-1) is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Terrel Williams back in September. He is 1-1-1 in his last three fights, having drawn with Jessie Vargas for the WBC Silver Welterweight Title.
Both fighters were supposed to face off against one another on April 11, but the bout was postponed due to the coronavirus. Recently, Showtime stated it had plans to make its boxing return in July, and hoped fighters would have full camps by the time everything had slowed down. Currently, the first booked fight under the PBC/Showtime banner is Luis Nery v. Aaron Alameda, scheduled for July 18.
While the original location for the fight was meant to be in James’ home of Minnesota, there are reports that Los Angeles is an option for this clash. The current WBA Welterweight Champion, under the “Super” status, is Manny Pacquiao.
