WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman says he will review the judging in the vacant WBO light-flyweight clash between Panya Pradabsri and Carlos Canizales.
Pradabsri was the home fighter from Thailand. The judges scored the fight in his favor with a majority decision. The three judges had it as the following: Zanashir Taznaa (116-112), Antonio Carrillo (115-113) and Malcolm Bulner (114-114). The result drew large boos from the crowd based on the tale of the fight. Canizales landed the more impactful punches. Sulaiman has now responded by saying a review will take place. This will only fuel the calls to introduce AI into boxing, which was seen for the first time in the Oleksandr Uysk vs. Tyson Fury rematch.
“After a sensational close fight Pradabsri is awarded a majority decision in Thailand. Cañizales is a warrior who fought his heart out. I am disappointed at the performance of the WBC judges in specific rounds and I will order an immediate review by the corresponding committee. WBC ring officials are accountable for their performance,” Sulaiman saidÂ
