Despite the nature of the stoppage in her loss to Alexa Grasso this past Saturday at UFC Seattle, Maycee Barber is in good health, according to her team.
In the opening round of the pairs co-main event matchup inside Climate Pledge Arena, Grasso perfectly timed a right check hook, then followed it up with a well-placed left cross. The strike dropped Barber, completely separating her from her senses, then Grasso transitioned directly into a rear naked choke, but the referee was already calling a stop to the action.
Following the fight, Barber was left unconscious in the center of the octagon, with many concerned fans looking on helplessly, concerned for her health. Eventually, Barber was helped to her feet, but many felt the prolonged resting period after the knockout was quite concerning.
Now, Barber’s team has provided an update and said that she is in good health following the loss, with no long-term damage evident (via MMA Junkie). She has even been posting to Instagram and is focused on the next time she gets to step into the octagon, though she’s annoyed with all the images of her laid out in the cage being shared in viral fashion across social media.
