Mikaela Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs) and Chantelle Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) will square off for the WBC, WBA, and WBO junior middleweight titles on August 29 in Birmingham, England.
Mayer passed on the possibility of an undisputed welterweight matchup with Lauren Price to head back down to 154 pounds, the division where she has the WBC and WBA belts. The 35-year-old former unified junior lightweight champion has made no secret of her desire to become undisputed at 154.
“Chantelle has always been a name I’ve hoped to add to my resume and a fight I feel the sport of boxing deserves. With our come forward, aggressive styles, I have no doubt it will be one of the most exciting fights of our generation,” Mayer
Cameron arrives off the back of a decision win over Michaela Kotaskova in April that netted her the WBO strap. The former undisputed junior welterweight titlist had chased a third meeting with Katie Taylor before ultimately agreeing to take on Mayer instead.
