Mayweather Falls Off Forbes List Completely

A year after reaching the top of Forbes’ highest-paid athletes list, Floyd Mayweather has completely fallen off the charts.

Mayweather, who did not fight for the majority of 2018, with the exception of an exhibition against Tenshin Nasukawa, did not make the magazine’s annual list of athletes who made an obscene amount of money in the course of a calendar year.

Supplanting Mayweather on the list is international football star Lionel Messi ($127 million), followed by Cristiano Ronaldo ($109 million), Neymar ($105 million), with boxing star Canelo Alvarez ($94 million) and tennis champion Roger Federer ($93.4 million) rounding out the top five.

Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua would make 13th on the list, making $55 million for his fights against Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin.

Mayweather’s last pro opponent, Conor McGregor would fall from fourth to 21st, earning $47 million in the past year, fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018.
