Mayweather vs. Gotti Rematch Set For August 24

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has announced his rematch with John Gotti III for August 24.

Their first fight had many controversial talking points. Mayweather dominated the bout, as Gotti struggled to make an impression. Mayweather taunted Gotti with verbal shots. Things escalated as both fighters used inflammatory language. The referee, Kenny Baylis, warned the fighters. That was ignored as the fight was stopped. And yet, Gotti swung towards Mayweather after the bell. A brawl broke out as the entourage from both camps came into the ring. Gotti was subsequently suspended for six months.

“The DBPR Florida Athletic Commission took immediate action the evening of Sunday, June 11, and suspended John Gotti III for six months,” a representative for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation said.

Now, that the suspension is over Mayweather has confirmed the rematch.
