Mayweather vs. Nasukawa Set, Rules Announced

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Tenshin Nasukawa are indeed having a boxing fight at the end of the year after all.

Mayweather’s team sent out a press release not only announcing the bout, but also be an exhibition contested under boxing rules. The fight will take place on December 31 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Below are the official rules that both Mayweather and Nasukawa will fight under when they meet in the ring at Rizin 14:

  • Three minutes per round for three rounds
  • Straight boxing rules
  • Both will wear RIZIN 8 ounce gloves
  • Weight: 147lbs/67.7kg
  • No judges
  • This will be full contact competition, but the bout is not going on boxing or MMA records

The exhibition fight was originally announced several weeks ago, but Mayweather withdrew from the fight before negotiations resumed between both sides until Mayweather formerly accepted the bout against the undefeated kickboxer. This will be Mayweather’s first time boxing in an event since scoring a TKO win over Conor McGregor in 2017.

The card will also feature a Rizin Atomweight Championship bout between Kanna Asakura and Ayaka Hamasaki. Bellator Bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell will also make his Rizin debut on the show when he takes on Kyoji Horuguchi for the Rizin Bantamweight title.
