Mbilli Wants Two Big Fights This Year: Canelo In His Sights

Christian Mbilli has targeted a fight with the Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion Canelo Alvarez as he wants two massive fights this year.

The Super Middleweight secured a sixth-round knockout of Rohan Murdock in his last fight to take his record to 26-0 with 22 knockouts. After his win, Mbilli called out Canelo. The Frenchman has recently signed with Top Rank to target the biggest fights. He has outlined his hit list besides Canelo, including Caleb Plant, Jaime Munguia, Edgar Berlanga and more.

“We will have two big fights on ESPN. I think Caleb Plant is a good fight. Edgar Berlanga is a very good fight, too. Jaime Munguia, I messaged him on Instagram, but he and his team were in negotiations with Canelo. Daniel Jacobs, too – he has a comeback fight soon. I need a big name.”

“I think it is good that Canelo is going to defend his title soon. It has been a long time since he did. The super middleweight division is good right now, it is very strong. I hope that after Canelo’s easy fight with [Jaime] Munguia, he will take some risks and fight me,” Mbilli said

Canelo may not take the fight since Mbilli is high-risk and low-reward. The Frenchman has no belts, while Canelo is undisputed. Canelo could face David Benavidez instead for a much bigger purse, which still leaves the Mbilli fight on the table. However, a loss to Mbilli will no longer make the Benavidez fight appealing. But before those fights can be considered, Canelo must overcome Munguia on May 4.
