McGregor Breaks Silence On PED Allegations

Conor McGregor has responded to reports alleging he took PEDs during his recovery from the broken leg suffered against Dustin Poirier in 2021, saying he simply followed his doctor’s instructions without questioning what he was taking.

Reports indicated that McGregor’s surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache wrote a letter supporting a therapeutic use exemption application on McGregor’s behalf that was ultimately never granted. Speaking ahead of his UFC 329 return against Max Holloway on July 11, McGregor said the report was a breach of his medical privacy and pointed to the severity of the injury as context for any treatment he received.

“Shocking. A man’s private medical records. The most devastating injury you’ll see in combat sports. You have an injury like that, you’re not going to walk again. The objective should be to get that athlete, who has given his livelihood for the entertainment of the people, back on his feet,” McGregor

McGregor said he was not kept in the loop on the specifics of his treatment and had no interest in being so at the time.

“Whatever, I took myself out of the pool, listened to my doctors, and didn’t ask questions. I don’t need to know, and I don’t want to know. All I want to know is what’s going to get me back on my feet and able to play with my children in a normal capacity again. That was it,” McGregor
