McGregor & Holloway Spar On Social Media
In the immediate aftermath of UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway announcing that he has to pull out of his UFC 222 title defense against Frankie Edgar, Conor McGregor fired a shot over social media. McGregor took to Instagram mocking Holloway from their 2013 battle.
McGregor, the current UFC lightweight champion, has not fought in the UFC since becoming the first simultaneous two-division champion in November 2016. Conversely, Holloway has won 12 straight fights inside the Octagon since his loss to McGregor, capturing the featherweight title and twice defeating legendary champion Jose Aldo.
McGregor’s weekend barbs didn’t go unnoticed though.
As reported by MMA Fighting, Holloway fired back later Saturday night in true Holloway fashion, with a reference to his infamous cupcake analogy with a shamrock-themed jab.

Holloway would also reference McGregor’s 2017 loss to Floyd Mayweather and referee, Robert Byrd stopping the fight.
