McGregor & Holloway Trade Verbal Shots

Max Holloway (27-9) and Conor McGregor (22-6) came face-to-face for the first time ahead of their UFC 329 headlining welterweight rematch on July 11 in Las Vegas.

Holloway stayed composed throughout, laying out exactly what he expects to happen — which is a victory followed by a rematch at the end of 2026. Conor, meanwhile told Max, “You’re not going to lay a glove on me.”

“People claim this man to be the No. 1 pound-for-pound featherweight of all time when I son’d him at that weight. Do you know that I’ve listened to people throughout the years say ‘Holloway was only a kid back then?’ Max had his sixth UFC fight. Holloway enters as a heavy -450 favorite against McGregor (+330), thirteen years on from their first meeting in 2013 when a 21-year-old Holloway lost to a 25-year-old McGregor. A major reason why Max is a heavy favorite is that he’s stayed active fighting eight times over the past 5 years, while Conor has not fought once over that same span.

Holloway flipped McGregor’s famous “Mystic Mac” persona back on him, offering a prediction of his own. While McGregor ranted and pointed to his 2013 victory, Holloway kept his cool and kept his message simple.

“Welcome to the Mystic Max era. A bunch of gloves is going to get laid on that pretty face. I’m going to handle business and we’re going to have a rematch at the end of the year. I’m going to be 1-0 against him and then we’re going to rematch. That’s what’s going to happen,” Holloway
