McGregor Outlines His Plans After Holloway Fight

Conor McGregor (22-6) says his next two UFC fights are already contracted, with a July 11 welterweight bout against Max Holloway (27-9) at UFC 329 followed by a second date pencilled in for April 2027.

McGregor enters UFC 329 as a +230 underdog against Holloway, who is priced at -310. The Irishman has not had a UFC fight since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. McGregor expressed frustration at the gap between fights while remaining upbeat about his return.

“I am contracted, and I have both dates. I have July 11. When would you think they would put me back in? April 2027. It’s almost a year later. That’s ridiculous to me. This is the way the contract was done,” McGregor

Both fights will be the final bouts on his current deal, though McGregor is hopeful of extending his relationship with the promotion beyond that.

“There’s a lot more there. I hope it’s with the UFC, I hope we come to something, I hope I get honoured even more,” McGregor said. “Was it what I’m worth? Probably not. I’m a fair operator. I love the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and I’d love to continue,” McGregor

The names Conor has suggested is Justin Gaethje after the latter’s upset win over Ilia Topuria last weekend at UFC Freedom 250 to become the lightweight champion. He has also earmarked UFC Welterweight Champion Islam Makhachev.

“When Gaethje is on, he’s good, he’s okay. But when he’s off, he’s atrocious. I fancy him, handily. I fancy teeing off on Gaethje. And with [Islam Makhachev], there’s history there, and I know he’s fighting a fellow Irish man who I’ve trained with and know. I’m open to it! For sure. I’m open for either,” McGregor
