While Mark Wahlberg portrayed Mickey Ward in The Fighter, another famous fighter of Irish ancestry is calling out the actor.
Currently “retired” fighter, Conor McGregor, took to Twitter this weekend to challenge Wahlberg to a a fight for the Boston native’s shares in the UFC.
I’ve decided to challenge Hollywood actress Mark Walhberg next.
A fight for all the shares!

“I’ve decided to challenge Hollywood actress Mark Walhberg next,” McGregor wrote on Saturday. “A fight for all the shares!”
McGregor’s call for equity in the UFC has been a constant since his win at UFC 205 in 2016, when he would become the first double-division champion in company history.
Wahlberg is one of 23 famous names who gained a stake in the 25-year old brand when Zuffa sold to WME/IMG for $4 billion in 2016.
When a Twitter user claimed that Wahlberg and his brothers would smash McGregor, the “Champ-Champ” referenced a brawl he had with the Diaz brothers prior to his second fight with Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
“It wouldn’t be the first crew of brothers I’ve smacked around. Check the history books. The UFC history books.”
McGregor nearly incited a riot at the UFC 202 pre-fight presser, where he not only arrived late, but would throw full drink bottles at the Diaz brothers, clipping a security guard and leading to a lawsuit.
