McGregor Will Face Chandler On June 29 During International Fight Week

Conor McGregor has announced his return with the news that he will face Michael Chandler on June 29, 2024, during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.

McGregor has been out of action since his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. His failure to enroll in USADA testing prevented a fight with Chandler in 2023. The rules meant that he must provide two negative samples over six months before competing. The Irishman entered the testing pool to target a return at UFC 300.

Dana White ruled out a return on that card as a summer date was teased. Now that has been confirmed with Chandler as the opponent. They were linked with a fight since their days as rival coaches on the TUF 31 series. Chandler won the battle of the teams as his team secured more wins. But the Irishman won the challenge when it came to the battle between the coaches. That has set up the narrative for a defining fight.

The following footage shows McGregor with a wine glass in his hand. He can be heard saying the following as Chandler responded in kind.

“Ladies and gentlemen, a Happy New Year to you all. I’d like to announce the return date for myself, the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor, the greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas for International Fight Week, June the 29th… and the opponent, Michael Chandler. And the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds,” McGregor
