Michael Bisping’s Interest In Luke Rockhold Trilogy Fight

Following his victory over Joe Schilling in Karate Combat, Luke Rockhold has caught the eyes of many now that he has returned to winning ways, including former UFC rival Michael Bisping.

Rockhold and Schilling squared off on April 20th in Dubai for the striking based promotion’s 45th event. Despite Schilling’s kickboxing prowess, the former UFC middleweight champion achieved the knockout victory in the third round of the main event, which scheduled for five.

Rockhold and Bisping both have one win over each other, meeting in the UFC in 2014 and 2016. During Rockhold’s recent bout, “The Count” was broadcasting a watch along live stream, and many fans in the chat were calling for a trilogy bout between the pair. On a recent episode of the “Believe You Me” podcast which Bisping hosts on the GaS Digital Network, he responded to the suggestions, and while this all could just be for publicity, there seems to be some genuine interest.

“Luke Rockhold, I was doing a live to [his fight], and everyone was like, ‘You’ve got to do the trilogy,’” Bisping said on Believe You Me. “I’ll do Karate Combat against Luke Rockhold. I’ll do it.

“I’ll do it. I will have a trilogy with Luke Rockhold in Karate Combat. I would love to.”

Bisping also took a moment to give props to his former opponent for his recent victory, as no one can deny that a knockout of the fashion is an excellent way to overcome losses in his last five competitive appearances.

While it is unknown if the Englishman is serious regarding the possibility of fighting in the Karate Combat pit, the stage that alternative fighting promotions like this one can give competitors at different stages in their careers is very good for combat sports.

“This has gotten momentum a bit too quickly, let me just see my hip doctor first,” Bisping said. “I’m joking, [but] I’d do it. 100 percent, I would. … “Yeah, well done to Luke [against Schilling]. Fair play, man, fair play.”
