Michael Chandler, Tony Ferguson Agree To Fight At UFC 274

The UFC is reportedly stacking its May 7 fight card.

Michael Chandler (22-7) and Tony Ferguson (26-6) have reportedly agreed to a lightweight fight at UFC 274, per Sports Illustrated. The pay-per-view event will take place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Chandler has taken the UFC by storm in his first year.

Despite going 1-2 in the octagon, he has established himself as one of the most exciting fighters in the promotion.

He defeated Dan Hooker via first round TKO in his debut at UFC 257. Then he got a chance for the vacant lightweight title – which was vacated by now-retired Khabib Nurmagomedov – against Charles Oliveira, who defeated him via second-round TKO.

In Chandler’s last outing, he recorded a brutal “Fight of the Year” performance against Justin Gaethje at UFC 268. He lost via unanimous decision, but did not hand the fight so easily to Gaethje.

Ferguson is looking to get back into the winning column.

The American fighter seemed unstoppable in his 12 consecutive wins from 2013 to 2019, but after losing his last three to Gaethje, Oliveira and Beneil Dariush, it’s unclear where he stands in the division.

A title fight between Oliveira and Gaethje will headline UFC 274.
