Michael Chandler Welcomes New Member, Ace, to Family

UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler and his wife Brie were over the moon as they announced the birth of their second adopted son this past weekend.

Chandler and Brie have welcomed the birth of their second son, Ace Chandler, who was born last week. The two have already been nurturing a son named Hap who was also adopted by the pair.

“So blessed to add another son to the Chandler family. Ace Chandler was born April 19th,” Chandler shared. “The blessings of adoption have enriched our lives more than we ever thought possible.

“[Brie Chandler] has had adoption on her heart for over 2 decades and after our son Hap, we knew we’d do it again.

“So many people have said we have given such a gift to these young men, but to us, it’s always felt like the exact opposite…we feel like we have won the lottery every single day.”

The birth of Chandler’s second son comes just a few weeks away from stepping into the octagon to face former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, at UFC 274.

After an explosive debut back at UFC 257 where he finished Dan Hooker, the 36-year-old hasn’t had the best of time in the octagon in terms of victories.

Chandler is coming off back-to-back losses to UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and former interim champion Justin Gaethje. His fight against Gaethje was nominated for the ‘Fight of the Year’ where the two gave everything they had in the middle and kept swinging until the last bell.

The win against Ferguson can be a huge boost to his dwindling career inside the octagon.

Chandler has been a fan favorite ever since making his debut in the promotion. His debut post-fight callouts, where he very openly confronted former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, made him the blue-eyed boy of the UFC that he is today.

Chandler had a decorated run in Bellator before he was signed by the UFC and one of the reasons for his acquisition by the UFC was to bring a genuine contestant who could challenge Nurmagomedov.
