Michael Chiesa On Neil Magny: It’ll Be A Tough Fight For Both Of Us
Michael Chiesa isn’t expecting a cakewalk when he shares the Octagon with Neil Magny.
Chiesa vs. Magny is scheduled to headline UFC Fight Island 8 on Wednesday, January 20. The welterweight clash will be held inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Both Chiesa and Magny are riding three-fight winning streaks.
Ahead of fight day, Chiesa spoke to Cole Shelton on BJPenn.com‘s Just Scrap Radio. “The Maverick” said he anticipates a difficult challenge in Magny.
“It is tough to predict how this fight goes. Most people think it will go the distance or something of that sort. I think Neil wants to have an impressive win over me as I do to him. I’m always looking to having the shortest night at the office as possible. I know how to take calculated risks to make that happen. I won’t go out there and fight him blindly to try and get him out of there. I think it will be a tough fight for both of us.”
In Chiesa’s three-fight winning streak, he’s beaten former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos, Diego Sanchez, and former interim UFC Welterweight titleholder Carlos Condit. The wins in Magny’s streak have come against former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler, Anthony Rocco Martin, and Li Jingliang.
