Michael Dasmarinas set to face undefeated champ Naoya Inoue
Undefeated unified champion Naoya Inoue will grace the boxing ring against Michael Dasmarinas to defend his IBF belt on June 20 in Las Vegas.
“The Monster,” who currently holds the WBA and IBF bantamweight titles, will face his IBF mandatory challenger, Michael Dasmarinas of the Philippines. It’s an interesting fight, a good fight, with Dasmarinas, 30-2-1(20) not having lost a fight since way back in 2014.
The Monster, who dons the WBA and IBF bantamweight titles, is poised to bag another victory against the Dasmarinas. He has already amassed a 20-0 record since turning pro, including 17 KO wins that speak volumes of his striking ability.
Regardless, Dasmarinas’s camp is well aware of the weapons the Japanese superstar has up his sleeves and seems okay with the “underdog” tag.
Former world champion Tacy Macalos, who corners Michael Dasmarinas, told Spin.ph in a recent interview that it’s an enormous task to dethrone Naoya Inoue, but his quick adjustment to the US’ environment will help him give a tough time to his opponent.
This is the first time the 5-foot-7 Filipino will box in the US and gun for a world title. He arrived in California two weeks ago to adjust well to the time zone.
