Michael Hunter Vs. Hughie Fury Off Again

There are certain fights that take too long to be official. One of those fights is a blockbuster clash between Michael Hunter and Hughie Fury.

Although it was scheduled for last July, the fight got postponed because Fury got ill.

As the fight was scheduled again on October 29, the 28-year-old has withdrawn again, citing another illness. Speaking to Sky Sports, the cousin of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury gave an evaluation of his illness.

He said that the doctors have diagnosed him with long-term symptoms of COVID and they have told him to not return to the ring until next year. Although it is for his betterment, Fury was extremely disappointed.

“I feel weak with no strength,” Fury said.

“I’m a professional boxer who needs to fight in order to pay my bills and to live. But I have been out for over a year now and, to my frustration,

“I have been advised by my doctors to take total rest at the moment because I’m suffering symptoms of a long covid.”

Hunter hasn’t made any comments on the situation.

Hunter hasn’t fought since December 2021 where he recorded a split draw with Jerry Forrest. Before that, in his last two fight, he won by technical knockout over Mike Wilson and knockout against Shawn Laughery.

Fury has been inactive for nearly a year. He forced a stoppage of Christian Hammer back on October 16, 2021.

Fury said that his promoter has guaranteed a big fight once he returns to the ring.
