Michel Pereira-Zelim Imadaev Reportedly Set For September UFC Event

One of the most entertaining fighters today will have a chance to rebound in a big way. In fact, both fighters need a big win.

According to ESPN, the UFC is looking to book a welterweight bout between Michel Pereira and Zelim Imadaev on September 5. MMA Fighting would later confirm the report.

Pereira (23-11, 2 NC), known for his unique skillset in the cage, made his UFC debut in 2019. He beat Danny Roberts via knockout following a flying knee. Since then, he has lost two in a row. The 27-year-old lost to Tristan Connelly via unanimous decision and Diego Sanchez back in February. The loss to Sanchez was following an illegal knee, resulting in a DQ.

Imadaev (8-2) is also on a two-fight losing streak. Fighting since 2016, the 25-year-old debuted for the UFC in April 2019, losing to Max Griffin. He then competed in November, losing to Roberts via knockout.

The fight will reportedly be on a card that includes Alistair Overeem v. Augusto Sakai. It is unknown where the event would be taking place at the moment. The UFC is in Abu Dhabi this month for “Fight Island”, and is set to return to Las Vegas in August. There may be a chance the promotion returns to “Fight Island” if the coronavirus pandemic forces state’s in America to shut down again.
