Middleweights Andre Muniz, Dricus Du Plessis To Meet At UFC 269

Two rising middleweights Andre Muniz and Dricus Du Plessis are likely to share the octagon at UFC 269.

The matchup was first reported by ESPN and some sources confirmed to MMA Fighting Muniz vs. Du Plessis for the December 11 fight card.

UFC 269 is targeted for December, but the location and venue is not finalized. Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and No. 1 ranked contender are projected to headline the event.

Muniz (21-4) earned two victories in DWCS and three in the UFC. He fought against experienced fighter, Ronaldo Souza, and defeated him via submission armbar in the first round. Fourteen out of his 21 victories are via submissions.

Du Plessis (16-2) earned two victories already in the UFC, and both of them via knockout.

The last time he shared the octagon was with Trevin Giles at UFC 264, defeating him in the second round. He has a 100% finish rate. Nine victories out of his 16 wins are via submissions, and seven are via TKO/KO.

Both fighters are undefeated in the UFC.

Muniz remains as No. 15 ranked in the middleweight ranking of the UFC, and this victory will can help him improve his position. On the other hand, this can be the chance for Du Plessis to enter the top 15 rankings in the UFC.

There are three title bouts scheduled for UFC 269.

The co-main event will likely be Amanda Nunes versus Julianna Pena, and flyweight title bout between newly crowned Brandon Moreno and Alexandre Pantoja.
