On her Sirius-XM show, former UFC fighter Miesha Tate described the fighters mindset in regards to cutting weight, following the issues surrounding weight cutting over the past several months, highlighted by Kevin Lee prior to UFC 216.
It’s a competitive world, with people with the most competitive mindsets, and they think if they cut more weight that its a competitive advantage.
Tate claims that the solution is the idea of hydration tests, and a specific hydration level will create a more even playing field.
“If you tell fighters they need to be a certain level of hydrated, (1)55’ers become (1)75 pounders and we level the playing field.”
