Mikaela Mayer Aims To Move Up In Weight To Tackle Katie Taylor Or Amanda Serrano
It seems like Mikaela Mayer (16-0, 5 KOs) has made her intentions clear about her plans in the latter part of her professional career.
The 31-year-old will be defending her WBO and IBF titles in her hometown, California, against Jennifer Han (18-4, 1 KO) this weekend.
As the American also has the Rings Magazine title to her name, she believes that now is the right time to upgrade her professional career.
The unbeaten fighter doesn’t want to stay at 130lbs if the fights against Hyun Mi Choi (18-0, 4 KOs) and Alycia Baumgardner (11-1, 7 KOs) don’t take place quickly.
“I was supposed to believe that I was already undisputed. To be honest, I have been waiting anxiously to get these fights done and dusted,” Mayer told Sky Sports.
“I am in the best shape of my career and wanted to go undisputed at 130. However, if that is not the case, I am not going to sit around this limit and wait. I will look at the offers on the table so I get involved in the biggest fights possible.
“If it requires that I have to go beyond 135lbs, I will do that without any hesitation.”
