Mikaela Mayer Set To Return To Action In June Against Helen Joseph

After waiting patiently for her time to shine, Mikaela Mayer is ready to get back to work.

The Athletic’s Mike Coppinger reported that Mayer will be fighting on Top Rank’s “return to action card” on June 9. Supposedly taking place inside an MGM property in Las Vegas, Mayer will be facing off against Helen Joseph.

A medalist in the 2012 World Championships, Mayer (12-0) turned professional in 2017. The 29-year-old won the NABF Super-Featherweight Title back in 2018 against Vanessa Bradford. Her last bout was a retirement win against Alejandra Soledad Zamora back in October.

Mayer was supposed to fight Melissa Hernandez inside the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in March, but the fight and card became one of the first New York events to be postponed by the coronavirus.

Set to face Mayer is the 31-year-old Joseph (17-4-2). She lost her last bout to Delfine Persoon back in November via unanimous decision. Prior to that fight, she was 5-0-1 in her last six.

Other fighters on the card include Jared Anderson, Guido Vianello, and Robisey Ramirez.

The two have been added to a card that will be main evened by WBO Featherweight Champion Shakur Stevenson. Set to face the 22-year-old is Felix Caraballo, who is replacing Rafael Rivera. Top Rank was recently accepted back into Nevada when the Nevada Athletic Commission lifted the ban on combat sports in the area.
