Mikaela Mayer To Face Jennifer Han In Title Fight

Mikaela Mayer is returning to the ring after five months.

Mayer will be defending her Ring, IBF and WBO junior lightweight belts against Jennifer Han on April 9, Top Rank announced on Monday.

It’ll be a 10-round affair at the Orange County Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, California. The co-main event will feature undefeated welterweight Giovani Santillan and Jeovanis Barraza.

It’ll be a homecoming for Mayer who grew up in Woodland Hills.

She was last in action on November 5 when she defeated Maiva Hamadouche by unanimous decision, snatching Hamadouche’s IBF world title.

The 31-year-old represented the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games when she was an amateur.

Han last lost to undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor via unanimous decision on September 4. The 38-year-old won the vacant IBF women’s featherweight title by defeating Helen Joseph in September 2015.

The fights will air live on ESPN on April 9 at 10 p.m. ET.
