Mike Perry (15-9) suffered his first MMA stoppage loss since 2019 on Saturday, falling to short-notice replacement Brandon Jenkins (19-12) in the main event of Duel Arena 1 at Kia Center in Orlando.
Jenkins stepped in on roughly 48 hours’ notice after Dillon Danis withdrew from the fight. Danis’ withdrawal also resulted in Perry taking a significant reduction in his expected purse.
A veteran of the UFC, Karate Combat and PFL, Jenkins entered as a significant underdog against Perry but started well, timing “Platinum” with clean shots during the opening exchanges.
Perry began finding his range in the clinch before his left shoulder appeared to dislocate during an exchange. Compromised by the injury, Perry attempted to continue before Jenkins landed a body kick that sent him to the canvas.
Jenkins followed with ground strikes until the referee stopped the fight at 2:38 of the opening round.
The victory marks the biggest win of Jenkins’ career, while Perry leaves the event with his first MMA stoppage defeat since 2019 and a shoulder injury.
