Mike Perry, a former UFC welterweight champion, would like a comeback with the organization.
From 2016 to 2021, “Platinum” was one of the roster’s brightest fighters. At that time, Perry entered the top 15 and defeated well-known players like Mickey Gall, Jake Ellenberger and Paul Felder.
Despite some great knockouts early in his UFC career, the success wouldn’t persist. Perry’s streak ended after dropping four of his last five matches. The welterweight also missed weight during that period, and Latory Gonzalez served as his only coach.
After leaving the UFC in 2021, Perry returned to his roots. He joined BKFC and went back to a conventional fight camp.
Since then, he has defeated Michael “Venom” Page and Julian Lane by decision in the bare-knuckle division. Perry defeated Michael Seals by decision in Triller’s Triad Combat arena in a separate one-off fight.
Despite his achievements since quitting the mixed martial arts business, he would still like a comeback. Perry said he enjoys competing in various sports and enterprises in an interview with The Schmo.
“Man, I don’t know. What do I want? I can’t lie. I mean, I just keep thinking about the days when — I forget the days of the old matchmaker — back in the days when Rampage Wanderlei , and Vitor Belfort trained, traveled, and fought all over the world… They were back and forth,” Perry said.
“The UFC has that big show. So, I would like to get the money I’m getting now over there in that big show, and I’ll put on a big show like I always have. I know the fans have been talking about it, ‘Put Perry back.’ A lot of them hate like, ‘You’re not there anymore!’ I mean, you ask what do I want, and I’m being honest… be able to be on the biggest platform there is in the fight game.”
Perry has asked for a fight with Jake Paul in addition to looking for another UFC run.
