Mikey Garcia & Danny Garcia In Talks For August Fight
Mikey Garcia is looking to bounce back from his first pro loss by staying at welterweight and going against one of the toughest challenges not only at 147-pounds, but in the sport.
Per Mike Coppinger, fresh off an unanimous decision loss to Errol Spence Jr. in March, the California boxer is in “advanced” talks with former world champion Danny Garcia for a showdown this August.
Mikey Garcia is looking for a road map to a historic fifth world title in as-many weight classes, and a win over the former welterweight champion, Garcia, can be the right move to earn him a shot later this year or in 2020.

Danny Garcia, who held the WBC version of the title from 2016-2017 is coming off a knockout victory over Adrian Granados, with many thinking the Philadelphia native would be in-line for a fight with WBA “regular” welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.
Now, Pacquiao is fighting Keith Thurman for Thurman’s WBA “super” welterweight crown, while Errol Spence Jr and Shawn Porter are near a deal for a welterweight unification match for this Summer as well, making Garcia-Garcia the biggest fight for either man in the 147-pound weight class.
