Mikey Garcia To Face Lipinets On February 10th

Mikey Garcia will be going for his fourth world title in as many weight classes, as he and Sergey Lipinets battle for the vacant WBA world title at 140 pounds on February 10th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The undefeated Garcia moved up from 135 pounds to 140 for his last fight, a 12-round, unanimous-decision victory over former four-division champion Adrien Broner at Barclays Center on July 29th.

If he wins, Garcia would become only the third fighter in modern history to become champion at 126, 130, 135 and 140-pounds, joining Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao*(who held linear titles, not a “alphabet” title).

Lipinets defeated Japan’s Akihiro Kondo by unanimous decision in their 12-round fight November 4 at Barclays Center to win the IBF 140-pound championship.
