Miocic: Wife Would Kill Me If I Did What Conor Did
UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, would never consider what Conor McGregor did prior to UFC 223. Not because of what the UFC would do to him, but for what his wife and mother may do to him.
Miocic was on the ESPN morning show Get Up! on Tuesday, promoting the upcoming season of the Ultimate Fighter, featuring he and UFC 226 opponent Daniel Cormier as coaches.
Miocic was asked about McGregor’s attack on a bus at UFC 223 Media day, and he understands McGregor’s anger over the confrontation Khabib Nurmagomedov had with Artem Lobov, a close friend of McGregor’s, but he’d never do something like that.
“Yeah, I would never do that. Like, to that point. I understand that he was trying to back his boy up, but also I understand you can’t be doing that,” Miocic said. “People got hurt. I’m constant, I’m always doing the right thing, that’s the way I was raised.
“And if I did that, honestly, my mom would destroy me. My wife would kill me. Like, who do you think you are? I would never do anything like that, I would just be who I am. I would do it a different way.”
And while he’s avoided the brunt of what his wife and mother would do to him, the Cleveland born fire fighter/MMA star has to prepare for Daniel Cormier in July.
“There’s a lot of concerns with Daniel,” Miocic said. “He’s an amazing fighter, he’s fought heavyweight before. He’s undefeated actually at heavyweight, but he hasn’t fought heavyweight in a while and he hasn’t fought anyone like me yet.”
